ESC 23 - Late-Breaker host, Dr Harriette Van Spall (McMaster University, CA) is joined by Dr Javed Butler (University of Mississippi Medical Center, US) to discuss the findings from the RECORD MI Registry.

Recurrent myocardial infarction (MI) and new onset heart failure (HF) are major adverse complications in patients post-MI. Advances have been made for systems of care, coronary revascularization and drug therapy for the secondary prevention of myocardial infarction. The RECORD-MI registry is a retrospective analysis assessing post-MI risk in electronic medical records at 28 hospitals in the US.

Results showed that high residual risk of post-MI new HF persisted in the contemporary era of MI treatment. Risks of recurrent MI were lower (5%) as compared to incident HF (30%).

Recorded on-site at ESC Congress 2023, Amsterdam.
